The
volatile oil from dried flower buds of
Eugenia caryophyllata
T., Myrtaceae. It
is a clear, pale yellow to yellow liquid with spicy
odor. The main constituents are eugenol, caryophyllene,
eugenyl acetate and small quantities of furfural and
traces of vanillin and methyl aryl ketone.
